1st Translation Academy - 2026
On June 25-27, Saint Petersburg State University held the 1st Academy of Translation, attended by renowned translators and Translation Studies experts from Russia and foreign countries, including Azerbaijan, Brazil, India, Italy, China, Congo and Turkey.
The event consisted of 14 language sections, including the Arabic one, moderated by CAIS Researcher Dr. Elena Gimon.
Husam Azzam (Majdalina LLC, UAE), Mikhail Bezborodov (State Academic University for the Humanities), Yulia Bogdanova (IOS RAS), A.V. Bodrov (League of Arab States Mission in Moscow), Tatyana Ogilko (NEOM, Saudi Arabia), Vladimir Rozov (Saint Petersburg State University), R.S. Shigapova (freelancer translator), and Rami El Kalyubi (HSE University) took part in the section.
The discussion at the section touched upon a wide array of topics: specifics of translator’s work in diplomatic environment, simultaneous and consecutive interpreting, fieldwork in the Arab countries, translation of classic Medieval and contemporary Arabic literature, cinema translation etc.
