15th International Conference “The Eurasian Arc of Instability and Regional Security Challenges from East Asia to North Africa: Geopolitical Outcomes of 2024”
On January 25, 2025, the 15th International Conference “The Eurasian Arc of Instability and Regional Security Challenges from East Asia to North Africa: Geopolitical Outcomes of 2024” was held in Saint Petersburg.
The annual conference, organized by Saint Petersburg State University and Ho Chi Minh Institute, was attended by a number of leading Russian scholars, government officials and foreign experts. The participants discussed a wide range of factors influencing security systems in key regions along the Eurasian arc of instability. Special attention was paid to the interplay between global and regional actors, geopolitical rivalries, territorial disputes, the resulting arms race, and the tools used to orchestrate controlled regional destabilization and the profound reshaping of geo-cultural spaces.
CAIS Research Fellow Grigory Lukyanov took part in the “African and Middle Eastern Segments of the Eurasian Arc of Instability”, presenting a paper “Geopolitical Consequences of the Ongoing Military and Political Crisis in Libya: Outcomes of 2024”.
