Opening of the 19th Conference of Arabists “I.M. Smilyanskaya Readings”

 
On December 2, 2024, an online discussion “Oriental Studies in Central Eurasia: Eight Paths of Development” opened the 19th Conference of Arabists “I.M. Smilyanskaya Readings”

In 2024, IOS RAS researchers continued to assess the current state of the Oriental Studies within the framework of the Consortium of IOS RAS and MGIMO University. This time, the situation of the Oriental Studies schools in the countries of Central Eurasia – Belarus, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan – became the object of research. As a result, the collective monograph “Oriental Studies in Central Eurasia: Eight Paths of Development” (Moscow: MGIMO University, IOS RAS, 2024) was published. The researchers have also continued the assessment of Oriental Studies in Russia.

The event included the presentation and discussion of the monograph and analytical report “Oriental Studies in Russia 2024: Assessments by the Professional Community” (Moscow: MGIMO University, 2024).
