Expert Meeting "Russia and the Islamic World: Outlines of Economic Interaction"
On April 10, 2023, an expert meeting "Russia and the Islamic World: Outlines of Economic Interaction" was organized by the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies, Institute of Oriental Studies RAS.
President of the Institute, Academician Vitaly Naumkin and Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, Head of CAIS Dr. Vasily Kuznetsov moderated the discussion.
The event gathered researchers from several departments of the Institute (Center for Arab and Islamic Studies, Center for Middle East Studies, Center for Study of Common Problems of Contemporary East, Department of Israel and the Jewish Communities) and other organizations (IMEMO RAS, Institute of Asian and African Studies of Moscow State University, MGIMO University)
The following issues were discussed at the meeting:
- The Islamic World: mechanisms of political and economic consolidation and fragmentation;
- Prospects of economic development of the Islamic World in the conditions of resource security imbalance;
- Islamic economy and economies of the Islamic World: competitiveness potential in the new technological paradigm;
- Possibilities and prospects of economic cooperation between Russia and the Islamic World;
- Possibilities and prospects of the Islamic economy development in Russia.
