11th International Forum "Islam in the Multicultural World"

 
On October 13-22, Kazan Federal University holds the 11th International Forum "Islam in the Multicultural World". Traditionally, the Institute of Oriental Studies RAS is one of the co-organizers of this forum.

The event attracts a large number of scholars, experts, clerics and social activists from various places in Russia and all over the world. This year, the forum is dedicated to the highly relevant issues of migration, human capital and security. This year, the platform is as intensely eventful as the previous ones.

On October 14, the President of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Full Member of RAS Prof. Vitaly Naumkin and the Head of the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies Dr. Vasily Kuznetsov presented their papers ("Two Ummahs of the Contemporary World" and "Explaining the World: Arab Societies Seeking the Solutions for Current Challenges" respectively) at the plenary session.

Moreover, the "Human Capital and the Problems of Social and Political Development in MENA Countries" round table, organized by the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies and Institute of Oriental Studies's representative department at the Kazan Federal University, was held yesterday. The discussion focused on such issues as the social and economic transformation of the Middle Eastern societies, the impact of these changes on the political economy of the region and the influence of all these shifts on the regional international relations.

On October 13, the President of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Full Member of RAS Prof. Vitaly Naumkin received the Gold Medal of the Republic of Tatarstan's Academy of Sciences "For Academic Achievements".
