Exhibition "Tribal Art of the Himalayas"

 
The Eastern Cultural Center of the Institute of Oriental Studies (the Russian Academy of Sciences) opens an exhibition. At the event for the first time the relatively unknown examples of Himalayan region’s decorative and applied art will be presented: masks, phurbu, ritual daggers and textiles. These pieces of art were created by small-sized ethnic and regional population groups of India, Nepal, Bhutan, China!

The exhibits are linked with religious traditions, and it makes the exhibition a fascinating journey through the Himalayas’ high mountain paths.

Yegor Perepelyuk, the collector, and Denis Korablin, the orientalist (the Institute of Oriental Studies) will present their collections at the exhibition. Also they will introduce the Himalayas’ tribal art history. It is one of the latest discoveries in the world of the Eastern indigenous peoples’ art.

Exhibition dates: from September the 7th to September the 11th, 2023
